A Little Bit O'Love

Hard rain is driving, I'm walking down the street,
I got dreaming in my head tonight, I got water at my feet,
Preacher man is preaching "The end of the world is nigh,
Repent ye of your sins, get right with God before you die",
Crickets they are crying "Listen to what I say,
The time is right, the stars shine bright and a little bit o'love
Goes a long long way.

I went down to fun fair city, the brightest place in town,
My horse was groovin up and down but mostly round and round,
Diesel fumes are burning with the whirring of machines,
That Ferris wheel is turning through the circles of my dreams,
A magpie looking pretty coy stands croaking in the hay,
"One for sorrow, two for joy and a little bit o'love
Goes a long long way".

Later in the evening I took my ease in a public house,
Drinking red wine in the corner, sitting quiet as a mouse,
Commotion kept on happening with the hard heads at the bar,
They came in through the windows but went out through the front door,
The landlord's cat was purring, it was in the month of May,
Climbing across the roofs tonight and a little bit o'love
Goes a long long way.

Finally I lay down, weary for my sleep,
The landlord's daughter crept into my room to have a peep,
And put her face so close to mine, I had to close one eye,
Feel her warm breath on my lips and thinking I might die,
Then giggling reassurance, she tells me "It's OK,
The moon is bright, I'm here tonight and a little bit o'love
Goes a long long way".
Yeah a little bit o'love goes a long long way.
