Well I see
you got your coat today to keep you from the sun,
See you got your well heeled boots to keep you on the run,
Yes and now you got your assets we can really have some fun,
See you got your hat and gloves, reminding you of last year's
loves
And pleasure on the run.
Well I
couldn't find the house keys when I looked hard for you,
Couldn't trust your friends when I tried to surprise you,
Found I couldn't trust myself and the worst was yet to come,
But you know I always trusted you, I never dreamt you'd make me
blue,
Never dreamt I'd be a party to some pleasure on the run.
Now I know
that fate's a bastard if you need to hear it straight,
Time's unholy union with desire as its mate,
And I know that nothing's given if it can't be freely done,
But I can't think for you all the time so take a break and drink
your wine,
And pretty soon you'll be feeling fine with nothing much to fill
your mind
But pleasure on the run.
I drifted out
through the courtyard to the bottom of the stair,
Couldn't see no Romeo but Juliet was there,
She smiled so bright I faced her like I faced the morning
sun,
I almost wished I'd kissed her then, just raised her mouth and held
her chin,
But I never knew just how to begin this pleasure on the
run.
Well I see
you got your halo and that cross around your neck,
Is making me suspicious but I got no time to check,
It's 4:30 in the morning and the night has almost gone,
I can hear my angel calling, she says "Man you look
appalling,
How long can you be falling for this pleasure on the
run?"
